Today’s
Feast

True and False Fasting
Gods Not Dead! Please join us sharing God’s Word daily. We will spend about fifteen minutes a day
praying and reading every word in God’s Word in approximately three years.
“20 but if you
refuse and rebel, you shall be eaten by the sword; for the mouth of the Lord has
spoken.”” Isaiah 1:20
Isaiah Chapter 58, “Hypocrisy reproved. (1,2) A counterfeit and a true fast, with
promises to real godliness, and, (3-12)to
the keeping the sabbath. (13,14)”
- Matthew Henry Concise
Dear
Saints,
Today we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading Isaiah Chapter
58. Hypocrisy and the hypocrite (see Mark
7:6-7) denounced
by God. A proper fast blesses the
person fasting, God’s people and
(see Matthew
25:35) God. The Sabbath is a covenant
between God (see Luke
1:49) and man; “14 then you shall take delight in the Lord, and I will make
you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of
Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”” Isaiah 58:14 English Standard Versions (ESV. Jesus encourages us to fast not for
selfish reasons but rather (see Matthew
6:16) to get closer to him. “To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles
are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope
of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom,
that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” Colossians 1:27-28 ESV. We glorify Jesus when our fellowship,
prayers and actions glorify (see Colossians
3:16) God.

“knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited
from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but
with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or
spot.”
1 Peter 1:18-19 ESV.
