The Feast

Dec 13, 2011 - Genesis 31

Dear Saints,

Today we prayerfully continue our Feast in Genesis 31. In this Scripture we see Laban and Jacob part ways, and the rocks are marked (Mizpah) such as a watch tower; 46And Jacob said to his kinsmen, "Gather stones." And they took stones and made a heap, and they ate there by the heap. 47Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha, but Jacob called it Galeed. 48Laban said, "This heap is a witness between you and me today." Therefore he named it Galeed, 49 and Mizpah, for he said, "The LORD watch between you and me, when we are out of one another’s sight." Genesis 31:46-49 English Standard Version (ESV). Now that is such a nice thing for Laban to say; "The LORD watch between you and me, when we are out of one another’s sight." Well it certainly sounds nice in fact I’ve heard that Saints quote it in parting company “Mizpah”. How ever Leban was saying to Jacob, I know your a thief God will watch over any business between us when we can’t see each other “MIZPAH”. The next couple of verses plainly bare witness to that; “50If you oppress my daughters, or if you take wives besides my daughters, although no one is with us, see, God is witness between you and me."

51Then Laban said to Jacob, "See this heap and the pillar, which I have set between you and me. 52 This heap is a witness, and the pillar is a witness, that I will not pass over this heap to you, and you will not pass over this heap and this pillar to me, to do harm.“ Genesis 31:50 - 52 ESV. This is why I always ask that the Holy Spirit to give me understanding as I read God’s Holy Word. Laban was not asking God to take care of Jacob, he was asking God to keep a careful watch on him. “Jeremiah writes that the heart is wicked and tremendously deceitful. The Bible is clear that our innate human desires are thoroughly tainted by sin, and in need of salvation.” Heart wicked - a Christian perspective. This brings me back to Issue Number One, Salvation through the blood of the Lamb.

Even the season speaks of salvation for man “and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They told him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet: "'And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.Matthew 2:4-6 ESV

Would you like to sleep like a child again? Accept God’s free gift, invite Jesus into your heart. Just say this simple prayer; “Dear God, I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died for my sin. I am willing to turn from sin. I now invite Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Saviour.“ If you said this prayer inviting Jesus into your heart. Now turning from sin, and seek fellowship just as we do. We worship and fellowship in a Church (group of believers) that strive to measures up to God’s Word. You need a Bible believing body of believers (church) to worship and pray with. Our salvation depends completely on God! We are the Saints that Jesus sacrificed his life to pay in full for our sin, when we repent (turn from sin) and accept Jesus. If you have trouble finding a good bible believing church in your neighborhood send me an email and I’ll see if I can help; mlitew8@yahoo.com or if you want a pastor email Pastor Glen; evangelistglen@yahoo.com
