Today’s
Feast
Mar. 20, 2014 – Isaiah 22
An Oracle Concerning Jerusalem
Share the Feast in God’s Word; join us as we
share God’s Word daily as Easter, Sunday April 20th approaches!
“11 The words of the wise are like goads, and like nails firmly
fixed are the collected sayings; they are given by one Shepherd.” Ecclesiastes 12:11
Isaiah Chapter 22, “The
siege and taking of Jerusalem. (1-7) The wicked conduct of its inhabitants.
(8-14) The displacing of Shebna, and the promotion of Eliakim, applied to the
Messiah. (15-25)” -
Matthew Henry Concise
Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully
continue our Feast by reading Isaiah Chapter 22. The terror in Jerusalem prophesied of by
Isaiah, her men are slain by (see Lamentations
4:9) famine, fear, disheartenment.
Judah now appeared more weakened than
ever (see Isaiah 30:1) before. Shebna is a chastised for his pride, vanity,
and confidence in man. “24 And they
will hang on him the whole honor of his father's house, the offspring and
issue, every small vessel, from the cups to all the flagons. 25 In that day, declares
the Lord of hosts, the peg that was fastened in a secure place will give way,
and it will be cut down and fall, and the load that was on it will be cut
off, for the Lord has spoken.’” Isaiah
22:24-25 English Standard Versions (ESV). Gaze
into your heart; Is your faith in your Job, Social Security, politicians, people
or (see Hebrews
11:1) Jesus. “Like
newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up
into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.”
1 Peter 2:2-3 ESV. Did you examine your heart, and see what is
it you desire? Will you love and obey
Jesus (see John
21:15) will you feed His lambs? Jesus says that
if you love Him you’ll (see John
21:16) tend (take care of) God’s
lambs. Jesus Said; “He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of
John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time,
“Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know
that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.“ John 21:17
ESV. Because we really love Jesus we will love and
take care of our siblings and let our light shine for all people to see.
