Aug. 6, 2014-Ezekiel 23
Two Adulterous Sisters
Please join with us sharing
God’s Word daily. We will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and
reading every word in God’s Word in approximately three years. Gods Not Dead!
“20
"For long ago I broke your yoke and burst your bonds; but you said, 'I
will not serve.' Yes, on every high hill and under every green tree you bowed
down like a whore.” Jeremiah
2:20
“In today’s Feast I’m
using Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary for insight in to Ezekiel 23. I would love to hear from you, tell me what
God puts on your heart, in an email or comment. My email address is; mike@admenu.com” - Brother Mike
Dear
Saints,
Today we prayerfully continue our Feast by
reading the book of Ezekiel Chapter 23;
“A history of the apostacy of God's people from him, and the aggravation
thereof.
- In this parable,
Samaria and Israel bear the name Aholah, "her own tabernacle;"
because the places of worship those kingdoms had, were of their own devising.
Jerusalem and Judah bear the name of Aholibah, "my tabernacle is in
her," because their temple was the place which God himself had chosen,
to put his name there. The language and figures are according to those times.
Will not such humbling representations of nature keep open perpetual
repentance and sorrow in the soul, hiding pride from our eyes, and taking us
from self-righteousness? Will it not also prompt the soul to look to God
continually for grace, that by his Holy Spirit we may mortify the deeds of
the body, and live in holy conversation and godliness?“- Matthew
Henry Concise.
The Word of the Lord told
Ezekiel, listen to this story about two adulterous sisters representing the
sin of God’s people (see Ezekiel 23) who
God destroys because of their idolatry;
“48 Thus will I put an end to lewdness
in the land, that all women may take warning and not commit lewdness as you
have done. 49 And they shall return your lewdness upon you, and you shall bear the penalty for your sinful idolatry, and you shall know that I am the Lord GOD."” Ezekiel
23:48-49 English Standard Version (ESV). I want to ask what
do you think is sinful? To me I think it is anything that comes between us and God, the Holy
Spirit or Jesus (see Romans 7:12-14)is sin. No matter how right, good or pleasurable it seems (see Romans 6:23) sin
brings (eternal death) separation from God. While we may be weak or prone to satisfy our
sin nature God loves us so much (John 3:16) through Jesus He gave us a free pass on
sin. By God’s Grace and Faith
in Jesus each person may
be saved; “160 The sum of
your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures
forever.” Psalm 119:160 ESV. If you say; I do not have that
kind of blind faith! I would say that
it’s not blind faith (see Romans 10:17) please pray and then read God’s
Word. Salvation
which is adoption into the Family of God (see Ephesians 2:8)
cannot be earned by any means. Don’t
live in sin like the two adulteries sisters! The Lord Jesus willingly obeyed
God the Father and gave His life (see Ephesians 2:13)
so that everyone who chooses life can be saved.
Is Jesus calling you today? Are you ready to know God’s plans for you? Do you want to find true happiness, peace
