Today’s Feast
Aug. 3, 2014-Ezekiel 20
Rebels and Idolaters
Please join with us sharing
God’s Word daily.  We will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and
reading every word in God’s Word in approximately three years.  Gods Not Dead!
“Put to death, therefore, whatever
belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil
desires and greed, which is idolatry.  Because of these, the wrath
of God is coming.” Colossians 3:5-6

Dear
  Saints,
Today
  we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Ezekiel Chapter 20;
“The elders of Israel are reminded of the idolatry in Egypt. (1-9) In
  the wilderness. (10-26) In
  Canaan.(27-32) God
promises to pardon and restore them. (33-44) Prophecy
  against Jerusalem. (45-49)“
  - Matthew
  Henry Concise.
Ezekiel warns the elders in Israel; (see
  Ezekiel
20:1-9) God will justly punish those who willfully
go on in their sin.   Ezekiel
  reminds them (see Ezekiel
20:10-26) of their history of sin and idolatry in the wilderness.  How their ancestors also rejected God, His law
  and condoned sin (see Ezekiel
  20:27-32) how do they think they will escape God’s judgment.   If they continue to practice sin and ignore the power of God’s grace (see Ezekiel 20:33-44) they will see the hateful nature of sin and God’s wrath. While Judah and Jerusalem had a large population (see Ezekiel 20:45-49) they remained small in the fruit of the spirit. Those who deny God’s Word will suffer God’s wrath;
“48 All flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it; it shall not
be quenched." 49 Then I said, "Ah,
Lord GOD! They are saying of me, 'Is he not a maker of
  parables?'" ” Ezekiel
19:13-14 English Standard Version (ESV).  We are to separate ourselves from the sin and idolatry of this world
  (see 1
John 2:15-17) while we carry the Word of God and the love of Jesus to
them.  We must not be swayed by what we
see; “7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not
look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have
rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward
appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart."”
  1
Samuel 16:7 ESV. What does God see (see
  Romans
3:10-23) when he looks at the heart of an unrepentant idolater?  What will God see when he looks on the heart of the
  repentant person (see Romans
10:9-10) who accepts Jesus?   It is time for each
of us (see   Deuteronomy 30:19) to choose sides.

“13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God,
that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all,
to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt
of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,” Ephesians
  6:13-14 ESV.
