Dear Saints,
Let’s
prayerfully read, 1 Kings 12 together today. We
see Jeroboam uses altars made for false gods to make offerings. God sends a message but he ignores it. The
prophet that carries the message is deceived. The disobedient prophet is slain. Jeroboam never turns from his sin. “29 And the prophet took up the body of the
man of God and laid it on the donkey 30 And he laid the body in his own
grave. And they mourned over him, saying, “Alas, my brother!” 31 And after he
had buried him, he said to his sons, “When I die, bury me in the grave in
which the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones. 32 For the
saying that he called out by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel
and against all the houses of the high places that are in the cities of
Samaria shall surely come to pass.””
1 Kings 13:29-32. English
Standard Version (ESV). Whenever a
person disobeys God, there are consequences.
When our God gives you a purpose
follow it thru to the end. Even though
the profit disobeyed God, he was still honored as a man of God. “[Walk in Love] Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant
offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2 ESV. Our God has saved us to be witnesses not
judges. We are to keep the first thing
first. That is the gift of God, salvation through the blood of our Lord
Jesus. If you see a brother sister,
anyone straying from the path, approach them as the gospel instructs; “15 “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault,
between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your
brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you,
that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three
witnesses.”
Matthew 18:15-17 ESV.
