Today’s Feast
July 17, 2014-Ezekiel 3
A Watchman For God
Please join with us sharing
God’s Word daily. We will spend about fifteen minutes a day praying and
reading every word in God’s Word in approximately three years. Gods Not Dead!
“4 Jesus answered, "It is
written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from
the mouth of God.' "” Matthew 4:4
Dear
Saints,
Today
we prayerfully continue our Feast by reading the book of Lamentations Chapter 3; “The
preparation of the prophet for his work. (1-11) His
office, as that of a watchman. (12-2) The
restraining and restoring his speech. (22-27)
Verses
1-11 Ezekiel was to receive the truths of God as the food for his
soul, and to feed upon them by faith, and he would be strengthened… Christ
promises to strengthen him. He must continue earnest in preaching, whatever
the success might be.
Verses
12-21 This mission made the holy angels rejoice. All this was to
convince Ezekiel, that the God who sent him had power to bear him out in his
work... Surely then the hearers of the gospel should desire warnings, and
even reproofs.
Verses
22-27 Let us own ourselves for ever indebted to the mediation of
Christ, for the blessed intercourse between God and man; and a true believer
will say, I am never less alone than when thus alone. When the Lord opened
Ezekiel's mouth, he was to deliver his message boldly, to place life and
death, the blessing and the curse, before the people, and leave them to their
choice.“ - Matthew
Henry Concise.
We share the Word of God (see Deuteronomy
8:3) as food for the soul.. A
properly nourished soul (see Romans
10:17) brings faith to fruition. The
faith we have in God’s Word (see James
2:20) serves to produce good works. Like Ezekiel we carry the Word of God and it yields God’s purposes; “27 But
when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus
says the Lord God.’ He who will hear, let him hear; and he who will
refuse to hear, let him refuse, for they are a rebellious house. ”
Ezekiel
3:27 English Standard Version (ESV). God’s
Word is a two edged sword (see Hebrews
4:12) that separates what is bad away from what is good. The Holy Spirit will bring to our remembrance
all what we read in God’s Word (see John
14:26) when we need to use it. “8 [The
Righteous Shall Live by Faith] For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it
is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first
and also to the Greek.” Colossians 2:8-10 ESV. As watchmen for God we can go forth with confidence
in our faith; knowing that Jesus (see Hebrews
13:5) will never leave or forsake us.

“8 See to it that no one
takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according
to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the
world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the
whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you
have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.” Colossians 2:8-10 ESV.
