8th Year 12-13 Edition 3 – 2nd Sam. 12
l The Feast l
Nov 13_2012 II Sam 12
Dear Saints,
Today we prayerfully Feast in the book of 2 Samuel 12. Nathan’s describes David’s sin in a parable. David confessed his sin and asked for forgiveness. God punished him by taking the child Bathsheba bore him. Then God forgives David and Solomon is born by Bathsheba. David back in God’s grace, defeats the Ammonites. “29 So David gathered all the people together and went to Rabbah and fought against it and took it. 30 And he took the crown of their king from his head. The weight of it was a talent of gold, and in it was a precious stone, and it was placed on David’s head. And he brought out the spoil of the city, a very great amount. 31 And he brought out the people who were in it and set them to labor with saws and iron picks and iron axes and made them toil at the brick kilns. And thus he did to all the cities of the Ammonites. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.” 2 Samuel 12:29-31, English Standard Version (ESV). Just as David’s sin put a wall between him and God, so does our sin. David paid dearly for the sin and will will also pay when we sin. The point is when we sin don’t blame anyone else of God. If you turn from sin and ask God forgiveness, he will heal you from the sin just as he did David.
Prayer for our nation, copied from Freedom for a Nation – Connection! (Devotions for Every Day Life);
When we find ourselves in sin, we can draw on the faith received from His Word, turn from our sin and ask God for forgiveness. This is why we keep the first thing first ,that is salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. “For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.” 1 Peter 2:15-16 ESV. Hold one another up in prayer and in actions, this is God’s will for us.
